Whose culture is more successful Whose Culture is more Superior, China or Japan

On Wed, 16 Nov 2005 02:50:08 -0800, ltlee1 thought carefully and

First you deny that any culture is "superior", then you say that the Chinese culture is "more successful". In what world, is "the most successful" not "superior"

Excuse me, but the NUMBER of the members of a culture is irrelevant to a claim that a culture is more successful.

Furthermore, the culture of Americans I know who are descendants of Chinese is not easily distinguished from the culture of other Americans. For example, divorce was not part of "traditional Chinese culture", but American-Chinese have divorce rates similar to other Americans. For example, if one looks at Chinese born to American Born Chinese, the divorce rate is hardly different from the American average.

Finally, the Chinese culture of the 1500s to 1800s missed the chance to adopt scientific methods (but the European cultures did not). For those centuries the Chinese culture was clearly not the most successful.

The "Chinese culture" of today is quite different from that of the Tang dynasty (let alone the Qing dynasty).

Your argument starts with a contradiction and then proceeds to collapse.
