although we are talking about total strangers, my international travel experience, which covers at least 20 countries, gives me a perspective on how hosts deal with business guests. mumbai folks always come to greet me at the airport to receive me, and drop me there when i leave. they overwhelm you with their warm hospitality - although noisey, which you don't mind after a while. i must say i have learned a lot, lot from them. the japanese were extraordinary in their hospitality, very lavish, the ultimate professional, and made sure I was taken care of all thr' non-business hours. needless to say I am their favorite client. germans very nice, and quite culture curious once they find the comfort level. british hosts were wonderful; they are smooth as can be, never a dull moment. usa is just delightful. conversation was a little difficult with the french because of the language but they were gracious. i do like to kid people and ruffle feathers once a while to see how they react. i must give the americans and british the highest mark on that. it's a no-no in korea. (my korean guide felt insulted when i said with admiration, "gus are busy as beaver here"). the latins in mexico, costa rica and panama are a kind people but language can be a problem, the pace too slow. turkey, i did not enjoy, seemed unprofessional. overall, i think the differences are really marginal as regarding coutesey, and rankings hence of little value, but it is the usa that's most lively and most enjoyable.
