Norway has an obligation to ban LTTE - victim of Tigers in Norway Wed, 2006-05-24 01:09
Oslo, 24 May, (Asiantribune.com): Sivarajah Rajasingham, leader of Norway's Liberal Democratic Tamils, told the Asian Tribune that Norway too should ban the LTTE now that the European Union has taken decisive action despite threats by the LTTE to escalate violence. "Norway has a duty to ban those agents of terrorism operating on its soil," he said.
Rajasingham's life was threatened by an alleged LTTE operative on April 2005. He has been threatened with rest, sooner or later once the LTTE leader approves it, if he fails to stop anti-Tiger activities in Norway.
Rajasingham, holder of the Norwegian pbuttport brought this threat to the notice of the Norwegian police. As the police have so far not proceeded with the case based on the police complaints, Rajasingham has filed a court case in Oslo against the police urging them to continue with the case against the alleged threats on his life.
He said that Norway has a special responsibility to ban the LTTE, even though it is the leading facilitator, to prevent person activities in Norway. The authorities in Norway are fully aware of the LTTE person activities and its role as a facilitator should not prevent it from upholding the law in Norway, especially those threatened with rest by the LTTE persons, he said.
